How To Stop Losing Hair

Do you struggle with hair loss? You are not alone. Millions of people worldwide experience a variety of different types of hair loss, and it can be challenging to know what to do about it. Hair loss is a common problem that affects both men and women. Hair loss can also be called alopecia which means that you have lost all or portion of your hair. There are two types of hair loss:

•    Anagen Effluvium
•    Catagen Effluvium

What Causes Hair Loss?

Anyone can lose their hair, regardless of their age, gender or lifestyle. There are several different reasons for hair loss, and you can resolve this by making changes to your daily habits, while others may require the assistance of a doctor. The common causes of hair loss are;

Hormonal Changes

Hormonal imbalance can cause curl loss. This is usually caused by a small hormone called Dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT causes the follicles to shrink, which will eventually cause them to stop producing new hairs over time. Excessive amounts of male or female hormones in the body due to abnormal levels may also cause curl loss.

Genetics is a common cause of losing curl, especially for those with a family history of baldness. If your parents or sibling has experienced premature thinning or complete balding, there’s a good chance that this will happen to you as well.

It is a common belief that stress can cause curl loss, and this is true. When we experience very high levels of anxiety or prolonged periods of stress, the body releases cortisol; this stimulates the production of male hormones such as DHT, which leads to an increased risk of developing baldness in both men and women.

Hair Care

This is probably the most common cause of curl loss. Suppose you constantly pull your curl back too tightly; use heated styling tools, put an excessive amount of harmful products in your curl, or are experiencing chemical damage to the scalp. In that case, this will significantly increase your risk of curl loss.

How To Stop Losing Hair

There is no fool-proof way to prevent you from losing your curl; however, there are ways that can help reduce the rate at which it falls out.

Scalp Massage

You can massage your scalp with stimulating oils to promote the circulation of blood flow. Certain essential oils can be very therapeutic and rejuvenating for curl follicles.

Regular exercise can help to reduce stress levels and increase the blood flow to your scalp. Another main reason for curl loss is the body’s response to stress and anxiety. This can cause the curl follicles in your scalp to shrink and tighten, resulting in the curl becoming weaker and more likely to fall out.

Water Intake

Drinking plenty of water is essential for your body, but especially for your curl. If you are not adequately hydrated, the body will not produce collagen, essential for a healthy scalp and strong curl.

Minimizing Stress and Anxiety

Stress is another leading cause of curl loss, so it’s essential to minimize your stress as much as possible. Try yoga, meditation, or taking a walk in the park to help calm yourself and reduce your anxiety levels.

When coping with curl loss, it is essential to remember that it is not the end of the world. Many different treatments are available to help with curl loss, so don’t be afraid to talk to a doctor.
